OUR STORY
We started in the Fall of 1987. As our community changed over the years, we have continued to provide quality food at fair prices. The closing of Fort Monmouth caused 5,000 people to leave town. We survived these changes because of the support of our community and our many customers from around the country.
We provide classic diner breakfast and lunch in a casual and friendly environment. Our customers especially love our biscuits and gravy, breakfast sandwiches, and coffee. Whether you are from the area or in town on a visit, we treat you like you are part of the family. We look forward to seeing you soon. Come experience a taste of the real Jersey Shore.
Born and raised in Paterson, New Jersey, Sal has over thirty five years of experience in the restaurant industry. Sal has owned and operated several other establishments, but serving the customers of the Rise n Shine has been the greatest honor of his professional life. Nevertheless, his proudest achievement is raising his two sons, Marc, a New York City teacher and James, a musician.

You can even buy a pound of our custom blend coffee and bring it home with you.

Testimonials from Actual Customers
I was craving eggs this morning and I found this quiet small place to go to. The owner was very nice and you can tell he cares about what he does because he is open and talks to his customers.
I ordered the Italian omelette with a few extra eggs and wasn’t disappointed. I was satisfied with the eggs and the normal black coffee.
I would come here again just for the service.
My favorite breakfast spot in the whole wide world. I’m legitimately upset I can’t go more often! Everything is made with TLC, and you can taste the difference. The biscuits & gravy is *extremely* good! And to top it off, the service is phenomenal – personable, attentive, and a perfect pace.
Stopped in this morning before a long drive home. I had a traditional 2 eggs over easy with sausage, home fries and a black coffee. The coffee kicked my ass in the best way, the portions were filling and the taste was there. The staff was so friendly, kind and welcoming. Really the atmosphere makes the experience. Will definitely be back if we’re in the area again.
It takes a lot for me to take the time to write reviews at all. This place is fantastic and the cook, Sal is extremely friendly. Breakfast was delicious and fairly priced.
I’ve been coming here since I was in elementary school. Food is amazingly cheap, the staff is always friendly, and Sal, the owner, opens up at 6 AM every morning and always remembers regulars, even if you’ve been away for months
Must try!
Cute little hole in the wall!
Food is excellent.
Staff super friendly.
Best coffee around.
I really enjoy these small “hole in the wall”, mom and pop type places. My GF and I were in the area following a wedding the day before and I wanted someplace to go for breakfast as part of the weekend. Saw this place on Yelp with good reviews, and it was close to our hotel (DoubleTree) so we went. They had a “sausage gravy and biscuits” special on the note board so I chose that (I am a big fan of country-style breakfasts, and SG/B is a fave, so I get it often) with the optional 2 eggs (over easy and right on top please). As soon as it showed up (very quickly) I knew this was something different… The gravy had a golden color… not the usual plain pale white. I tasted it for seasoning and immediately was wowed! THIS TASTES LIKE SAUSAGE!!! Usually, I am disappointed by bland gravy that doesn’t taste like much more than a salted and peppered roux… this was delicious with big, still tender chunks of sausage! No lie, this was the best SG/B I have ever had in a restaurant/diner. The biscuits were just right (not too cakey) and the eggs were fresh. A little hot sauce for zing and I was a very happy camper! And the coffee (refilled often since we sat at the counter) was good as well. I am not a local, so I can’t speak to the rest of the food (although I did overhear one of the waitresses remarking to the cook that they moved a lot of pancakes that day), but I would go back here anytime I was in the area to try more of their menu. Well done Rise and Shine Diner!
This place serves breakfast crack. Between Biscuits and Gravy and the Jackpot, you really can’t go wrong. Sal cooks everything right, every time. The only down-side to this place is it will make you not want to cook breakfast anymore.
Loved this little spot! The owner, Sal, was so friendly! The coffee was delicious. It was quiet and quaint and the food was delicious. I love a good bacon, egg , and cheese sandwich. Sal fried the egg beautiful so that the white is around the cooked yolk. YUM! I just moved into the area and I will be returning.
spoke with the owner,Sal, who’s been here for 29 years. Very easy to talk to. This place is a hidden gem in the heart of Eatontown. Michele, my server, was super attentive. The coffee came to the counter like I was a regular.
This place is very clean and for a Sunday morning pretty damn crowded. It’s pretty much a breakfast scene due to the fact that it closes at 1:30 PM.
I had what is known as the “Jackpot”, two 🙂 pancakes, three slices of bacon, and two eggs over lightly. Very light and enjoyable. Unlimited pours of coffee too.
Will return.
Awesome little country style old fashioned diner. Excellent food at great prices. The breakfast here is perfect. Looking forward to trying a burger next time.
This place is such a wonderful experience. Sal is so welcoming and genuinely sweet we almost didn’t want to leave. The food was amazing from my coffee to the French toast, my kids loved their food. The waitress was so attentive checking in with us, making sure we had what we needed. Sal knows who comes in and greets everyone with a smile. We will definitely be back anytime we are in the area and I will recommend this spot to anyone I know.
Just a great place.
